Digital Photography 101: Let's Review---Photo Printingby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 03 Sep 2007 01:18 PM Many people getting sucked into the digital photography vortex spend much of their time researching cameras and not nearly as much time reviewing what's needed to get those fabulous shots out of their handheld devices and into their photo albums. In the continuing series "Digital Photography 101" I spent a number of days reviewing printing options for digital camera owners. If you've missed any of the blogs in this series I've provided a synopsis of each and a link to the full article so that you may view it in its entirety. Digital Photography 101: Printing Your Pictures One of the best parts about owning a digital camera is having the ability to print your shots from the comfort of your home. In this blog I provided reviews on two of the most popular home photo printers on the market. Both the Epson PictureMate and the Kodak Printer Dock Plus consistently rank high for user ease and quality. Digital Photography 101: More Printing Options Did you know amateur photographers will shoot roughly 23 billion digital pictures this year? Only, less than half of those images will be printed. This blog addressed printing service options outside of the home. These days it seems there are more stores that offer digital photo processing than not. From Wal-Mart to supermarkets like Woodman's, getting your shots developed has never been easier. In-store printing works the same way for digital pictures as it does for photos shot on film. You simply bring in your memory card to your local film developer or retail store just as you would bring film. Another option is online printing. These services allow you to upload your pictures and the company prints them out and mails them to you. Digital Photography 101: Printing Footnotes This blog discussed printing materials. If you decide to print your photos from home it's important to keep in mind the additional costs that come with having photo paper and ink at your disposal. The article also addressed the types of photo paper available and ink options. Can those too become digital so that you can organize them on your computer and make beautiful slideshows for friends and families? The answer is yes!! You can actually get your old pictures scanned digitally so that all of your most important memories will be importable onto your computer. It's fantastics and definitely worth looking into!
