Photo Editing Made Easy

If you shoot with a digital camera you might agree that it is nearly impossible to end up with a bad print. Photo editing can turn even the most oddly framed photo into a visual masterpiece. In addition, the technology can do wonders to compensate for poor lighting. If you tend to take pictures that need a few minor adjustments to make them print worthy, photo editing is key. The simplest way to improving your digital photographs (without enrolling in a photography class) is to edit them with easy-to-use software. For example, Google’s Picasa is one of the most popular … Continue reading

Drawbacks of Digital Photo Frames

In a previous blog I discussed the latest report on Kodak’s EasyShare EX1011 digital photo frame. While some testers rated the device as one of the best on the market others pointed out some obvious drawbacks to this particular model. For example, while the frame has a built-in Wi-Fi transmitter to connect with your home wireless network, making it unnecessary to string a USB cord for access to photos from your PC (a definite pro) or the Kodak Gallery, you cannot access photos from other photo-sharing sites, such as Flickr. Another complaint lodged by testers, which is common among wireless-enabled … Continue reading

Picking a Photo-Sharing Site

My daughter’s last birthday party was attended by dozens of family members and friends. The “Lilo & Stitch”/Hawaiian theme was a huge hit and I took more pictures than I could possibly, scrapbook, frame or file. On top of the shots I took my brothers, friends and other family members also snapped dozens and dozens of other photos with their own cameras and cellphones. A month after the party I was swimming in birthday pictures. Enter the photo-sharing website. If you have hundreds of pictures you want to preserve, organize and share with the world I highly suggest finding a … Continue reading

Are You Sharing Your Pictures?

And I’m not talking about passing your camera around so friends can view your favorite pics on your 2-inch LCD screen. When was the last time you actually took the time to print your most cherished shots or at the very least email them to family members? Printing pictures has become as easy as sitting your camera on top of a printer and pressing a button. It’s a simple task, but you might be surprised by the number of shutterbugs who allow their shots to sit in their cameras for months on end. With summer fast approaching and snap happy … Continue reading

Giving the Gift of Photos this Holiday

What grandparent would not cherish a Christmas gift featuring a prize-winning shot of their grandchildren? It’s a question I stopped asking my parents shortly after my daughter was born. They know by now that every Christmas (or any special occasion for that matter) they will be unwrapping some type of gift that bears the photo of their one and only granddaughter. (What more could they ask for, right?) My daughter is now three years old, so the trick is finding new items each holiday. If you are tired of giving framed photos of your children to the grandparents and are … Continue reading

The SELPHY CP740 Compact Photo Printer promises to print “superb digital images that will last for years to come.” The printer features a two-inch color LCD display, red-eye correction and multiple direct printing options that you can use without a computer. I have been eyeing this product since it came out a couple of months ago. I love the idea that you can take this printer with you … Continue reading

Reasons To Use Digital Cameras At Your Wedding

I’m not sure digital cameras were even around when I got married. Just kidding. Half-kidding at least. I got married before the digital photography phenomenon evolved into the all-encompassing trend that it is today. These days most couples don’t hesitate to hire wedding photographers who deal exclusively in digital equipment. In fact, a growing number of brides are now actively seeking digital photographers because they want the opportunity to share their wedding pictures online. Old-fashion photo albums are becoming a thing of the past. All the engaged couples I know have already assembled an online site dedicated to their weddings. … Continue reading

Digital Photography 101: Choosing The Perfect Ultra Compact Camera

I’ve done camera reviews in previous blogs and I have to say that I don’t think you will find a photographer out there who would be willing to admit that there is a “perfect” camera on the market today. As with any electronic device (or any item, really) personal preference plays a huge role in what an individual regards as “perfection.” In offering my reviews of cameras (both digital and standard film) my objection is to list highlight the features and pros and cons of each. Whether you agree with my final analysis is entirely up to you. With that … Continue reading
