Hot Summer Cameras

I have a summer birthday so this is the time of year that I typically research new cameras so I can put them on a short list of gifts that I would love to see next to my birthday cake. Though, this year is a bit different since I just received a wonderful new digital camera for Mother's Day. Still, I love reading about the latest and greatest cameras and other photo gear on the market.

Recently, Consumer Reports released its picks for the best brands of digital cameras on the market. If you are considering upgrading your current digital camera or contemplating making the move to a camera that allows you to shoot without film then you might consider the following devices that come highly recommended by the experts:

OLYMPUS

The Olympus D-460 Zoom was rated as the best overall camera tested by Consumer Reports. The experts at the magazine tested the camera both indoors and out and gave it high marks all around. The camera has features found on more expensive digital models including a sharp LCD screen. It also contains an optical zoom that allows the photographer to see three times farther than the human eye. Other bonuses include: pictures with true-to-life color and the ease of which it connects to a TV and other monitors. The camera makes hook up easy by using a single cable that runs from the camera to the TV.

KODAK

The Kodak DC 3200 Zoom was rated the magazine's best value. It's a little bulkier than some of the other models and connects only to personal computers, but the price is hard to beat. Some of the pros of the camera, according to the experts, are buttons that are clearly marked, which makes them very easy to use. In addition, the camera features an LCD screen that is very clear and displays vivid colors even in the blazing sun.

CHILDREN'S CAMERA

K-B Gear's JamCam 3.0 was voted as the top digital camera for children. Experts say the camera was easy to use for small hands (with clearly marked buttons) and gives simple instructions to allow kids to email their favorite pictures to their friends.
