Drawbacks of Digital Photo Frames

In a previous blog I discussed the latest report on Kodak’s EasyShare EX1011 digital photo frame. While some testers rated the device as one of the best on the market others pointed out some obvious drawbacks to this particular model. For example, while the frame has a built-in Wi-Fi transmitter to connect with your home wireless network, making it unnecessary to string a USB cord for access to photos from your PC (a definite pro) or the Kodak Gallery, you cannot access photos from other photo-sharing sites, such as Flickr. Another complaint lodged by testers, which is common among wireless-enabled … Continue reading

Stand Out Digital Frames

Digital frames are all the rage these days—-and not just with grandparents who live far away from their precious grandbabies. The readily available photo frames can be loaded with dozens of digital images and provide hours of uninterrupted viewing for snap happy parents and other family members. One digital frame in particular has received high marks, especially for its ease of use (which is quite a compliment given some of the confusing functions featured on some digital photo frames). Photo experts recently voted Kodak’s EasyShare EX1011 digital photo frame as one of the best on the market. While other digital … Continue reading

Affordable Digital Cameras

They might not have big names like Sony, Nikon, Canon or Kodak, but they also don’t come with the big price tags either. These days the digital camera market has grown to accommodate lower-priced brands whose products can compete with the big boys of photography. One digital camera maker in particular, Concord, is creating quite a buzz with its new 6 megapixel model, which features a retail price of just $229.99. The Concord 6340z digital camera features a 3x optical zoom plus a 4x digital zoom, a macro feature allowing you to take pictures as close as 2 inches, and … Continue reading

What You Need to Know Before You Buy a Digital Photo Frame for Mother’s Day

According to the cashier at my local Kohl’s department store, digital photo frames are the hottest buy this Mother’s Day. (The woman in front of me in line was purchasing one for her mom hence the info from the store employee.) I believe it. In fact, I wasn’t at all surprised by the claim given that just this past Sunday Circuit City held digital photo frame demonstrations at its stores nationwide. And it’s not just Mother’s Day. People are snatching them up to give as graduation gifts, for Father’s Day, birthdays and as wedding presents. So what do you need … Continue reading

Playing With Digital Prints

Digital photography has stepped miles and miles away from where it was, only a mere four or five years ago. It is light years ahead of where many ever saw it going. And while I am convinced that film is never going to go out, I recognize the changes that warrant digital to never leave either. So with all of the upgrades and advances in our digital technology, what things can you do with digital that was more difficult with film? First, film prints had to be scanned into the computer and then sent wherever you wanted them. Digital photos … Continue reading

Continuing on my research path of digital photo frames, I wanted to share the other two great finds I found. Kodak Easy Share Digital Picture Frames These tend to be on the more expensive side. They are available in both a standard version … Continue reading

Digital Camera Tips: Taking Multiple Shots

One of the great things about using a digital camera, is that you can easily take multiple shots of the same subject. This can work well for you. Since there is no waste, as with film, you have more opportunity to get that great shot. But there are a few unique pitfalls of taking multiple shots of your subject. For example, the other week I took multiple shots of a scenic view. The photos looked fine on the camera, but when I uploaded them, I found that they were disastrous. Which brings us to our first tip about taking multiple … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Made Easy

My mother is the first to admit that she is a dinosaur when it comes to technology. To say that she doesn’t embrace computers or anything digital would be a severe understatement. Ironically, for as much as my mom abhors high-tech gadgets, she absolutely loves the idea of digital scrapbooks. In fact, she is borderline obsessed with digital photo books, which are essentially affordable scrapbooks that you make online. You’ve likely seen the albums advertised on various photography and scrapbooking websites. They feature a variety of prefabricated templates that make scrapping an entire book a breeze. To design the pages … Continue reading

Amazing Arrangements

You’ve chosen your favorite pictures, bought the frames and are ready to build a photo wall. Now what? Creating a cohesive and attractive wall of framed photos is like trying to build a puzzle without a guide. One of the easiest ways to create a photo wall masterpiece is to hang a large framed or canvas photo in the center and arrange smaller-sized images around it. By using the large picture as the focal point you could even add collage frames with multiple photos around it, provided you leave about two to three inches of space between each of the … Continue reading
